Abigail Kambanis

Science

Abi Kambanis grew up in the British countryside and lived in various shires, including Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Wiltshire, to name a few. Shockingly, she has never lived in London as she turned down an offer from Imperial College London in favor of Durham University in northern England. As a result, Abi earned a BSc Hons in Geophysics with Geology and met a charming Greek-American man who would later become her husband and her reason for setting foot in the United States. Indeed, Abi enjoyed traveling to fifteen European countries and two South American countries before she first visited Vermont five years ago during the winter break of her teacher training while studying for a PGCE in Integrated Sciences from Bristol University. Before moving to NYC, she taught Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for two years near Bath. Her highlight was accompanying a group of twelfth-grade physics students to see the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland. Abi, her husband, and their British cat moved to Connecticut last year, and their family grew with the arrival of a beehive. She regrets learning French and German over Spanish in her youth but is hopeful that she will pick up not just Spanish but also Arabic, Mandarin, and Japanese while working at CGS.
