Keiko Sigmund

Keiko Sigmund

Japanese Language Teacher

Keiko Sigmund was born and raised in Tokyo. She earned a B.A. in education from Japan Women's University and M.A. in TESOL from Manhattanville College, NY. After graduating from college, she left for Hong Kong to work. She lived in Singapore and has found a home in the U.S. since 1985. She taught Japanese in a Montessori school and Continuing Education in NCC before joining the CGS. Her students participate in the Japan Bowl National Competition in Washington D.C. every year as well as the study tour and homestay in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Miyazaki, Japan. She is an AP reader and a 2019 Fund for Teachers Fellow. She travels intensively whenever she has time. She has visited all the continents except Antarctica, which is on her bucket list. She has two grown-up children and resides with her husband in Norwalk. She spends her free time cooking, bird watching & feeding, and knitting, etc.
